As a 2013 White House Champion of Change, the recognition I received helped StoveTeam International grow into a recognized international charity.

To date, local projects started by StoveTeam in Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras and Mexico have produced more than 78,000 stoves, improving the lives of more than half a million people and preventing nearly one million tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.

StoveTeam began by helping establish factories to provide the portable Ecocina cookstove, and has now expanded its reach by providing the Justa stove, built in place with the help of local stove builders trained by StoveTeam. The Justa costs $100 and the portable Ecocina cookstove costs $50. Both stoves save 50% of firewood in comparison to an open fire.

As StoveTeam moves into its 12th year, we are dedicated to raising awareness of the dangers of open fire cooking and expanding to meet the world’s need for safe cookstoves.

Four billion people still cook this way.

You can make a difference by providing a cookstove to those living in smoke.
